Job Title: Data Engineer -

Location: Leeds - Hybrid (2 days/week)

Salary: £60,000 - £65,000

About the Company:

We are a progressive, high-performing professional services business with a clear vision to modernise their approach to data and analytics. We are currently seeking a hands-on Data Engineer to join our team and take ownership of a newly established Azure-based platform.

About the Role:

You will be joining  at a pivotal moment as their architecture is in place, their data pipelines are flowing, and our future roadmap is ambitious. We need someone to take ownership of the end-to-end process and help them grow smarter, not just bigger.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Synapse Analytics
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and our small BI team to understand reporting needs
  • Ingest, model, and transform data from internal systems (finance, HR, case management)
  • Support a shift away from legacy tools (SAP BO) toward a modern, integrated data platform
  • Prepare for a move to Microsoft Fabric with guidance from a Microsoft partner

This role is not about fitting into a massive data team. It's about becoming the go-to person for everything engineering-related and shaping the future of our data function.

Requirements:

  • Strong SQL and hands-on Azure experience (ADF, Synapse, Power BI, Lakehouse)
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, both technical and non-technical
  • Exposure to Fabric is a bonus, but a willingness to learn is more important
  • A desire to shape the future of a data function, not just maintain it

Why Apply?

  • Be the foundational hire in a modern data journey
  • Work with a supportive IT and BI team who value learning and innovation
  • Join a firm with long-term investment plans in data, insight, and automation
  • Flexible hybrid working (typically 2 days in-office in Leeds)
  • £60k-£65k salary with benefits and a genuine progression path
